Block Sleep And Hybrid-Sleep Mode In Windows 7 And Vista

Standby and Hibernate were two functions in pre-Vista operating systems that would save the current PC state either into computer memory or on the hard drive before shutting down most of the computer to save energy. Microsoft has changed those states in Windows Vista and kept them this way in Windows 7.
The new power saving modes sleep and hybrid sleep replaced standby and hibernate. Sleep is just another name for standby. The data is saved to computer memory in this state before most PC components are turned off. Hybrid Sleep is a mix of sleep and hibernate as it saves the work both into memory and on the hard drive. The latter is turned off by default on mobile devices.
