yeah I dont have money to spend on a mod chip, or anything. what i would like to know, is there a way i could get my ps2 to play burnt games (mostly for emulation and game development)
is there some kind of jumpers i can solder or maybe download a file to one of my spare hard drives and make it run from that?
or is there a way that i can patch the disk to make it work?

You can put games on a hard drive yes. There is something called HD Loader or HD Advance 2.0. HD Advace is the same thing as HDLoader except it uses one disc for CD games and one for DVD games, plus is supports larger drives. To put the games on the HDD with the PS2 you will need a mod chip, but there are ftp programs out there to put the ISO straight to the hard drive. Also another alternative is a slide card or flip top and swap magic discs. for more into on HD loader check out the forums at afterdawn.com
