The 360 controller's standard battery pack just takes 2 AA batteries, no USB charging. You can buy an optional "Play n' Charge Kit" that includes a special rechargeable battery pack that you put in the controller and a USB cord that you can use to charge the special battery. The Play n' Charge Kit can be used to plug in your wireless controller and keep playing even if the battery pack dies while gaming.
