Question about LIVE...

Er...I'm new to this forums, so I dunnow if this is the correct place to put this topic up but...hopefully it is, and here we go:

I'm trying to set up a router connection for XBOX LIVE. I have a cable modem (it supports ethernet cables...), and a Dell DImension 8400 (with 5 USB ports, one of which allows an ethernet cable.

My friend told me to get:
5 ft. Ethernet cable x2
100ft. Ethernet Cable x1
XBOX LIVE starter kit x1

However, he told me that he wasn't sure which router to get, because he was unsure if DSL and Cable have the same chords or whatever...I was thinking that the "Linksys® 4-Port Broadband Ethernet Cable/DSL Router" ( http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog_name=CTLG&product_id=25-3020 ) would work with my computer...

Please respond ASAP. Thank you for your help in advance.

I have a cable modem and I just use wireless.

I have this router and this adapter. Works like a charm.

A) You should post this topic under networking
B) For cable internet you only need a linksys or netgear router, if you are playing in the other room from your router, you can use a small cable, but if your playing a floor below i would recomend wireless.
