so, after receiving my first xbox and it rroding I received another xbox brand new. I played it for all of 15 mintues when one of my friends came in my apartment and accidently kicked it. After receiving the kick it made this nice grinding sound and now it will not read a game disc, but will play dvds. so, I am taking this as a sign to not have an xbox. I think I am going to moce onto a wii. But I just wanted to thank you all for your support and answers.
Its just not meant to be.

Well it sounds like it wasn't in a safe place, but then again they weren't made to be put in cabinets due to the heat they produce. I have one of the older ones with the first power supply 203w and it still works great for hard gaming. It does have the x-clamp mod so that may have helped but it has never rrod, guess I am a lucky one. Wii's are nice and a lot of ppl around here like them. I think they are kinda cool but just not for me due to the lower graphics and game choice. Good luck with your next console though.
