Just a quick hint to people it only applys to the first releases of the xbox, if you bought one fairly recently then theres no need to get a new power cable.

they wont let you any ways before you send it there is a required feild where you put in you xbox serial #.

I have a Xbox, got it two weeks after it was release and there is NO bad soldering jobs on the PSU in it. Sure there might be a few people who tryed to fake it to make the Xbox look bad, but im sure its a few hundred bad cables since my cable does get warm. Anyways i have no problems running my xbox with the stock cable.

It is rare also I noticed when I tried out my original power cord that if u plug it in first then into the xbox that causes the spark so do it the other way around, when I did I did not hear the spark.

yah. i dont get any problems with my cord at all. even though i havent played it for a while but when i played it for hours at a time no problems. so, some unlucky people i guess.
