Old or not, this is a good link. I am sure there are several people out there who don't know about this.
 
It is supposed to keep your xbox from catching on fire, but I have read things that say that the power cord is not the problem, like this:
Yet another post about the Xbox power cord but this one is good. It appears that nothing was wrong with the power cord that shipped with the Xbox. The problem is actually the power supply. On all 1.0 or 1.1 Xboxes there is a faulty soldering job right at the spot where you plug in the power cord. This causes a spark whenever you plug in the power cord. On rare cases the power supply will burn up, which is what the new power cord is suppose to prevent.

The thing is Microsoft isn’t bothering calling a recall on the actual problem. They give you this advanced power cord which will prevent the spark from getting outside the box, but your Xbox will still fry. Great job Microsoft. Take the easy way out.
