Default Malware on Samsung android phone

Lately I've been getting spam messages in my planner on the phone. I'm using the original native s planner on the Samsung android phone.
I get events in my planner popping up occasionally asking me to pick up my apple/Samsung free phone locally. I've deleted the messages twice in the last 3 weeks.
If I understand correctly this doesn't necessarily mean there's malware on the phone. As some applications/sites eg gmail can add events to the planner automatically.
I can't find any malware in the applications folder.
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Not malware, just spam getting auto-added through GMail. Happened to me, and I thought the same thing as you. Doing the steps listed in this article fixed it, however:
Laptop: MSI GT70 2OC-059us | i7-4700MQ | 16GB | GTX 770m | 500GB SSD / 750GB HDD | 17.3" | Win10 Pro
Desktop: 4690k | 12GB g.Skill RipJaws | GTX 970 | 520hx | Z87X-UD4H | Corsair Vengeance C70 | Corsair H110 | Acer 25" | Acer 22" | Win10
Mobile: Google Pixel XL
