Google Chrome browser history showing sites not visited

Anyone else experienced this? I don't mean pop-ups like adverts for gambling and porn sites that pop up in the background without you realising, I mean actual specific web browsing history, consecutive pages of a certain website (as if it's tracking someone else's browsing remotely). How is it possible? IS it even possible? Also, how can a random web page show up on screen without you actually having accessed it?

If you're signed in to Chrome, it will sync browsing history (not necessarily yours, but someone else on your account) across multiple machines.
Someone else could've been surfing the web on that library computer you forgot to sign-out on.
Just a theory.
