I am doing a dissertation for my final year IT degree and I've chosen as a topic Spear-phishing vs. Social Engineering, how it's used on uninformed victims etc. I will expand a few topics, comparing and contrasting different techniques and how it has an effect on businesses etc. In addition, from the practical point of view I will give a few examples how it is executed using VMs.
However,I am searching for limitations in similar works/articles out there on which I can focus within my report and write a solution for, so my work is novel. I was think from the business perspective maybe, but no ideas come to my attention yet. Do you guys have maybe any suggestions?
