Default TouchPad not dead yet, gets webOS 3.0.4 update

Even though Palm is a dead brand, and the future of WebOS is uncertain now that HP is reconsidering its position in the consumer electronics market, the vanishingly popular TouchPad tablet today is receiving an over-the-air update to webOS 3.0.4.

According to HP on Tuesday, this update brings the TouchPad a new camera app, the ability to pair non-webOS devices with the TouchPad for call routing, improved support for Bluetooth keyboards, support for the OGG Vorbis music file extension, and the addition of online/offline status in the messaging client.

"In addition to new features, you'll also experience better performance, user interface improvements, and other enhancements such as support for accelerometer events in Adobe Flash Player, and more robust Skype video calling," HP's Jon Zilber said on Tuesday.

The only reason why the TouchPad was #2, it went on a fire sale for $99. I bet you that if Samsung did a fire sale on their Galaxy Tab for $99 that they would become the #2 seller in the world and possibly take over #1 as well. Since there is a high volume of these tablets already manufactured. So to call it the #2 best selling tablet is a joke. Those number will never increase, as they are no longer being manufactured, and they will be taken over by the Amazon Fire or whatever that stupid thing is.

The news about Android being shipped on a total of less than 5 units is true. But they were not supposed to be shipped. They were develop testing units that were not supposed to be shipped out at all. That was an error and HP is in no way responsible for the actions of what happened. This news has been all over such sites as XDA and Android Central since the Fire Sale started.
