WOW vs Diablo 3?

Well the goal to defeat some sort of evil and to restore the balance in the world is the same in what, 95% of the games? Still, I don't buy that the games are similar just because they share the lore. IMO these are very different games in very different genres.

By that reasoning nearly every game in the world is similar, considering it's good vs evil most of the time. Or a golf game is similar to nhl 2009 just because they're both sports.
That reasoning is ridiculous.
ARPG != MMORP != RTS . Story has nothing to do with gameplay mechanics.
