I used to be a very hardcore WoW player. I started off playing on emulated servers pre-beta, ended up being a GM on a private server, and forming a guild for the retail version of the game. One of the guildmates got invited to beta and didn't play much. He ended up letting me use his beta account. So I dropped out of the emulation scene (which got it's *** handed to it soon afterwards) and started playing in the beta.
I started as a Night Elf Druid and got to level 55 before beta closed. Despite my level, I was in the first two Molten Core attempts of which I still have screenshots of (beautiful memories). I also rolled Night Elf Druid when the game came out on the Illidan, and looking back this was a terrible mistake (rolling a druid again). I formed my own guild which was moderately successful as a smaller sized guild with a few hardcore players and several casual players. I got to level 60 in this guild (3rd druid on the server) and was the first druid on the server to get my epic mount.
Before long, a few guilds got together and formed a group for the first Molten Core run. I was actually the one to suggest doing it as no one had put anything into it. I discussed it with a few people and the guild leader of Legends of Azeroth (the largest guild on the server) got it together. We got owned and everyone gave up rather quickly.
I found my guild to be going nowhere as well as having internal drama issues, so I disbanded. Along with my good friend Melvia (at the moment he is the best equipped and skilled mage on the server, as well as the 2nd to hit Grand Marshal), we joined Legends of Azeroth to get into the raiding side of the game. We ended up getting the best equipped and dedicated people from Legends of Azeroth, the same from Legend (a rival guild), and a small pvp oriented guild called Wrath and taking on Molten Core again.
We scored the first Lucifron kill on the server, and wiped on Magmadar. Since this was a cross-guild group, our organization wasn't that well. A guild called DIE (bunch of douchebags with egotistical, selfesh, and retarded leaders) ended up taking several server firsts after Lucifron.
I had become an officer in LoA and soon afterwards Hawking (LoA's leader) presented to me and the other officers the idea of forming a hardcore raiding guild that was devoted to being the best on the server at pve raiding as well as a very strong pvp force. It was a very big deal for Hawking to drop the leadership of his very successful guild, but it was too large and he made some leadership mistakes to make it a hardcore raiding guild.
Hawking took select members from LoA and the leaders of Legend as well as select members formed together for the guild. It was originally going to be called Legend, but that guild name was taken. So we chose Saga. After forming, the left behind members were pretty disappointed / angry (understandable) and the guild soon after fell apart. I was also an officer in Saga. We had to recruit several more members before we taked Molten Core.
Saga turned out to be a major success and before long we were on Majordomo. I believe we had the server first kill on Majordomo, but a horde guild called Team Ice beat us on Ragnaros (which kind of confuses me, how did a team of ice defeat the god of fire?). The guild continued to be successful as being one of the major pvp forces as well as pve accomplishers.
I ended up rerolling a Human Warrior due my increased dissatisfaction (or should I say hatred) with my druid. It cost me a huge DKP penalty in the guild, but it was worth it to play a class I truly loved. Not long after BWL was released, my parents were getting back together so I had to move back into the country. I lost my DSL connection and had to quit WoW and my guild. This was heartbreaking for me, I was helplessly addicted to the game and had a strong relationship with the Illidan community and plenty of friends. I got a satellite connection as my only choice of broadband, which of course was very expensive and unable to play online games.
However, to this day I keep saying that whenever I can move or if DSL makes it way out here, I'll start back playing. I am -STILL- addicted to this game after 5-6 months of abstinence. I am a regular member of the server's private forums and constantly in IRC maintaining a friendship with the community and my old friends. Some people may view that as pathetic considering I don't even play the game, but imo, WoW is the most addictive online game ever created and for me, breaking the addiction is impossible. I still have the same cravings to play today as I always have.
Huge long story, but I felt like sharing my World of WarCraft story with all of you. Hopefully you found it interesting.
