I have been playing Wolfenstein.....The game is above average....but nothing real spectacular.

It still has some nice features and killing nazi's is always fun

The game is from id softwarw and I believe it is made from the Doom 3 engine.....it still holds up fairly well , even by todays standards......the game does have a 60FPS cap on it.

I am guessing that is Wolfenstein 2009. I have not played the Wolfenstein series since Return to Castle. I have the urge to start playing again since I seen these pics. I don't remember hearing anything about Wolfenstein 2009 when it came out. Was it supposed to be a big release? Until a few days ago, I never knew that this game was out.

Yes, this is Wolfenstein 2009.

I believe it was suppose to be a big release.

I heard about it about 8 months or so before its release and was looking forward to the game, since I liked the other Wolfenstein games.

I rarely buy games new for $50.....so i waited and found this on e-bay for $10 and I jumped.

Gotta love Yahtzee.....all of his reviews are great!

I personally am finding the game to get better and better the further it goes.....it startr-ted slow, but is gradually picking up the pace.

I also like seeing what the Doom 3 engine was capable of doing with out door enviorments....since Doom 3 was an indoor enviorment.

Getting close to the end of Wolfenstein....at least I think so.

I have really liked the SP of this game.

I've loved the Wolfenstein franchise forever and definitely had high hopes for this one! The first little while it's definitely impressive, they did a great job with textures and an above normal job on the destruction of the environment. But overall ended up being underwhelming after a bit. Mind you at the time I just bought Red Faction: Guerilla, Fallout 3, Assassin's Creed, Borderlands and Wolfenstein so I essentially playing the same game 5 times over haha. So that might have contributed to the underwhelming factor.

I got to the first "boss" I guess you could say, that glowing green guy in your first set of screenshots and then had to format...haven't gotten around to installing it again yet.

I recognise the underground area in your second last post, so I know I at least got up to there. I think after that you had to get into a tank? Iuno, can't remember any more :p

After that though it was just too boring for me. If you're gonna go for a 'futuristic' kinda game with non-standard weapons (e.g. crysis, bioshock, etc.) then they had better be **** impressive. Also, the game better look awesome too, otherwise it may as well be another generic shooter with some slightly different guns IMO.

The game and series stayed true to its roots IMO.

It is also one of the most polished shooters I have played in quite some time.

ID software usually releases great games from my experience and Wolfenstein has been one of those games for me......the MP may be fubar....but the single player has been a fragging blast for me.

I have Wolf 2009 but i didnt really like it. I gave it to my best friend and he seemed to enjoy it so i guess money not wasted. I will admit though that even though the ID Tech4 engine is so old it still had a ways to go after lagging out our 9700pros and *shutters* FX 5600s. I think personally DX9 could have went further but Microsoft wanted to use DX10 as a selling point for getting their crapp OS (Vista) out the door.
