Why is GTA San Andreas so darn slow?

Your laptop should be fine to fun atleast medium and you can probably max it out. I remember having a similar lag issue with GTA SA myself but I don't remember what I did. I think I just reinstalled the game and it was fine. I'd suggest updating the game to the latest version to smooth out any difficulties with your newer hardware which probably wasn't around when the game was coded. Wouldn't hurt to update sound and video drivers, either.

Downgraded to XP Pro SP2.
Runs greeeeeeat now.

^ lol, my major slow down points are when having a car accelerate from no speed to some speed, but after 8 or so seconds it goes to normal
