Well the L4D engine is an enhanced Source engine.. so its slightly more demanding

You have 2 8800GTS where 1 will (with a moderate CPU) will break left4dead. Every source game has been really great with its demand for hardware.
Obviously teamfortress2 is the most intensive, left4dead does require a good amount of CPU power, but a nice core2duo will do fine.

My friend has an AMDx2 6400 i think and a 8600GTS, he can almost run it maxed.

Well...GTA sucks. And the PC port sucks even more. So...that's alot of suck.

I mean Source games will run on teh weakest crap card as long as it has the shaders and the CPU will still be the determining factor.
IMO Source is a brilliant piece of software.
The port dosent suck, its just "unlocked" for PCs and better hardware.

Unlocked? I don't know what that means.
But, GTAIV is so CPU intensive it'll run fine on a Vcard of these specs
500 MHz
10 MB embedded DRAM
48-way parallel floating-point dynamically-scheduled shader pipelines

AS LONG AS IT HAS A POWER-PC BASED CPU OF
3 symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each
2 hardware threads per core; 6 hardware threads total
1 VMX-128 vector unit per core; 3 total
128 VMX-128 registers per hardware thread

Its a bad port.

Now I know the 360 is all dedicated and what not, but I'm just saying that the PC port is not spread out correctly.
I mean you have Crysis. "OH! I need a new Vcard cuz its the roXor and its sooo GRFX intensive"
Now you have GTAIV. "OH!...I guess i n33d a new cpu to play this game cuz my SLI 9800GTX can't compensate."
