Vertex Shader 3.0 on my x850xt

Yea i'd rather save a few bucks, I'm not as intense into gaming and pc hardware upgrading as I used to be so whatever is an improvement over my x850xt is fine with me. so which one out of the radeon or 9600 will perform better if both will work on my psu? (i'm not worried about a 5 dollar price difference.) Thanks again for the help!

The mail in rebate turns it into a $15 savings. I'm not too sure how well EVGA holds up to their MIR's though. They'll be right on par with each other. Neither of them require an external power source, so it's down to a price match. I'd go with the 9600GSO, just to save the money.

GeForce 9600 GSO 384 MB review | Point of View this is a good guide. Note that the 9800GT is pretty much identical to the 8800GT (112 stream processors, 256-bit GDDR3, etc.) and the 8800GT has a noticeable performance increase in CoD.

But it's not me who's buying anything, I just mentioned that you could get noticeably better performance for about 20-25 bucks.

Here's a nice comparison between the 9600 GSO and the HD4670

They are about the same, either one will do the job, but I still recommend the 9800GT unless money is that tight.

EDIT: btw I noticed that the 9600 GSO that is linked uses DDR2 instead of GDDR3.

Nope, the only cord included is the SPDIF cable. I have a PNY 9800GT that is power effecient, and runs all my games great. Even got 30+ average FPS with Crysis. I also have mine on a 350W power supply, so not much power is actually needed for them. Just don't plan on overclocking them, they don't do all that great with overclocking.

This would be cheaper, and around the same amount of power too (as the 4670).

Note : The 9600GSO on the Graphics Ranking list, is based off of the 192-bit versions, I believe. These are a little less powerful, being 128-bit.

That's the 9600GSO you want to avoid, 92 shaders, 128bit, DDR2 of 512mb or 1GB, you want the other one, DDR3, 384MB, 192bit interface

well I went ahead and ordered the 9800 gt since it's not that much more expensive and is the best out of the 3. hopefully I won't see any power supply issues. Thanks for the help everyone appreciate it
