Valve Reveals 'The Sacrifice' DLC for Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2, 'No Mercy' Coming to L4D2

Valve Reveals 'The Sacrifice' DLC for Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2, 'No Mercy' Coming to L4D2 - Shacknews - PC Games, PlayStation, Xbox 360 and Wii video game news, previews and downloads

Last night on GameTrailers TV, Valve's Chet Faliszek revealed info on upcoming downloadable content for those still waging war on the zombie threat.

(Note: The GTTV video contains spoilers on "The Passing" DLC.)

Faliszek revealed a new downloadable content pack, dubbed "The Sacrifice," is coming to both the original Left 4 Dead and its sequel, Left 4 Dead 2. A precursor to the previous DLC "The Passing," the upcoming pack will tell the story of how the original Left 4 Dead team lost one of its team members to the zombie outbreak.

Since Valve was already busy bringing the original team to Left 4 Dead 2 in order to tell the story in "Sacrifice," Faliszek said the team decided to bring a fan favorite campaign from the original game into its sequel. "No Mercy" will be included in the upcoming DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 players, adding the sequel's game mechanics to the popular original campaign. Presumably (according to footage shown in the interview), players will now be able to choose any character from the Left 4 Dead series in the sequel's multiple campaigns.

Faliszek also discussed a 150-page digital comic that will be released in four parts prior to the launch of "The Sacrifice." The comic will delve into the past of the original survivors and feature the "real" ending to "The Sacrifice" DLC.

Although those who have played "The Passing" DLC are aware of the fallen survivor's true identity, Faliszek says players can choose which of the original cast 'meets their maker' in the upcoming downloadable content.

The downloadable content will be available on the PC for free and will be added to the upcoming Mac version of the game. Xbox 360 owners will have to fork over an unknown amount of Microsoft Space Dollars to get the content. No firm release date was mentioned in the feature.

I am super stoked for this! I loved Left 4 Dead 1 and everything about it.

Wow, L4D seems to have come a long way since I last played it! (xmas-time roughly).

What's this about losing a team member?

In l4d2 you meet up with the original cast.. Bill got killed. It was awesome! The Sacrifice DLC is where you get to see how Bill bites the big one. And its going to be awesome!

I'm the only person alive who hasn't played any L4D yet. Don't ask why or how, it just hasn't happened. Gotta grab L4D2 asap.

I'll have to buy it when I've got the money, I'm broke as joke right now. Tried out Zombie Panic Source and that ended up feeling like zombie mod for 1.6 done with the source engine.

They get boring pretty quick, compared to other multiplayer games re-playability. They only offer 4-5 maps and it's the same thing over and over, maybe if they released a new map every month instead of the community having to create them and going through the hassle of downloading them, it wouldn't get boring.
