Space combat sims?

Are there any really good space combat simulators, that put you in the position of like a fleet admiral? I'd really like to play a game that really nailed the 3d combat. Plus commanding a fleet of starships sounds fun to me.

I really liked Freelancer, no fleet command, though. X2 and X3 were both really good, too but I didn't play as much of them. Check those titles out.

A real time strategy game.

ya bridge commander you become a commander of a ship its sorta like a sim
