resolution settings

ok i am currently building a nice little pc and just thought i would see what resolution i could set it at

it will have a 8800 gt and a Q9450 quad core with 4gb ram

the screen i'll be putting it in to is a 26" samsung HDTV which brags 720p on its own but i got my ps3 happily putting out a signal of 1080i to the tv so what would you guys recommend i set it to

i'll be putting it thought either the VGA or Component slots on the screen if this helps any

The signal going out from the ps3 may be 1080i but the tv will scale it down to 720p if it only supports 720p. You cant run the tv at a higher res, thats the native res of the set. Using a dvi-hdmi would be the best way to connect it.

i would consider HDMI but i only have 1 HDMI input which my ps3 is currently in

so 720p is my limit if it helps but i'm currently looking for the book for it to see the ratios and stuf
