Question for all steam users

sup gamers...

I current have the orange box and bioshock purchases through steam.
I have only installed TF2 from the OB though.

I have to format my pc and i was wondering if their is a way or feature steam has to back up the files, so i dont have to re download the games ALL OVER AGAIN.

Good question, I'd like to know as well. I think you can. Right click on the game in Steam, I think theirs a settings or properties button. I'm pretty sure theirs a "Back up game files" thing somewhere, I could be wrong.

Why don't you want to re-download it? It'd take no time at all. I get like 400-500kb/s when i download a game or update in Steam.

he's right, right click the game and select backup game files, then use that to reinstall rather then to dl

yes backup is great. u can choose the size of the backup to to fit onto a CD or DVD, or just put it on a separate drive.

But how do i re install it usinig the back up files?


And i only get a dl speed of 250-350 max.

be careful with the back up and make sure that you get an .exe file with the set of back up files. I got screwed over once because the backup feature didn't work properly
