Finally I found a working solution!
Last Friday Nvidia released a beta driver (290.36), installed it and have been playing a couple of hours without any problems since then. But after bf3 patch 6/12 the pb kicking begun.
Tried loads of stuff (mentioned below if this doesn't solve it for you) but finally I uninstalled the nvidia beta drivers and went back to the latest stable version 285.62 from Nvidia. Reboot and problem solved.

I had already tried updating and reinstalling.

What I think has worked was me removing the contents of the 'pb' folder, running pbsvc and pbsetup from within my games folder. When I did my process protection asked for permission for pnkbstrB even though I had given it permission everywhere. I am at work but I think it might have got it.
