Wargame: European Escalation. It's a pretty awesome RTS game, and well supported by the developer. A few missing features at the moment but the developers on the forums seem pretty confident such popular features will be patched in soon. It's missing stuff like being able to set unit direction when moving, so you have too fiddle around a bit. And there is no option too get units to move together. Different vehicles have different speeds so they tend to get quite seperated over distances, meaning for example anti-air units are pretty quick and usually end up in front, which means they are the first to meet any surprise ground resistance and get blown up very quickly if you are not careful. But apart from those small annoyances, awesome game.
Huge battle against AI. They attacked me with a shedload of helicopters which I wasn't very well prepared for. I lost a lot of tanks before I got some decent anti-air unit reinforcements in.
You can see all the destroyed enemy helis on the ground, I got them with some french SAM units hiding about 1km away.
Much more zoomed out overview. Doesn't look like a lot happening, but those big fires you can see are about 100 to 200meters across when you zoom in. Caused by the FEAR rockets from enemy heli's. You can see my base and units in blue too.
My SAM units doing their job very well
Here are some more SAM unit reinforcements heading to the battlefield behind them in the background. You can see the smoke and fire everywhere from all the **** thats going down. Pretty epic.
The attack had just started here. All the red heli's are the enemy. That large patch of fire and smoke is where my very expensive british Challenger 1 and german leopard tanks are.. the challenger tanks in particular have a shed load of armor which is why you might be able to make them out still alive in the pic. The leopards not so much. Neither of them have any decent anti-air capabilites. At the bottom of the pic you can see me rushing some anti air SAM units in
Right in the action.. and getting owned at this point. Though to be fair quite a few of their helicopters were falling by this point.
Air battle largely won at this point. Moving some tanks in to reinforce that control points.
More tanks going in to secure a new area. There are some anti-air units close behind them this time (not in pic).. I learnt my lesson
Some more tanks using the road too move quicker
Some super expensive AH64s and also resupply chinooks in the background
Cool pic of my 30km artillery hitting. You can see some more white shells coming in the distance.
Lots of pics
Really do like this game. So many units to unlock, all with different capabilities. AI is good apart from a few bugs, like that one, where they only spawn heli's
And the graphics in motion are pretty decent - pics don't do it justice. Love how much you can zoom in and out, it's great. Absolutely huge maps, they feel about 50 to 80km in length/width. Appreciate the realistic unit engagement ranges unlike practically every other RTS.
