new games for new spec's

I am new to PC gaming and have updated my computer but donÂ’t know what games to get to play on it. I did have an XBOX but sold it. I play almost anything apart from sports games any ideaÂ’s on some good games that will run on my machine?

RAM: 512MB DDR400MHz PC3200
VIDEO CARD: Mentor GeForce FX5700 256Mb AGP
HARD DRIVE: 40GB SEAGATE

how about every game that is out right now. That cpu is top of the line, and the gpu is still pretty good especially since it is 256mb. so yea im pretty sure any game including hl2 and doom 3 will run great.

I would also like to suggest Half-Life 2, because I have Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 and it wasn't what I thought it would be. I thought Doom 3 would beat Half-Life 2.
