monitor goes into standby

hi all,
need some help

i've recently installed XIII and patched it and everytime i start the game the monitor goes into standby, but the PC is still running but totally freezes and only a reset will work.

i have a P4 3.0
512 Kingston
FX5600 256DDR Forceware 56.72
Belinea 17" monitor
XP pro SP1
DX 9.0b

basically i think everything is up to date. its not the first time its happening to me.

Anyone got experience??


if all fails, i'm considering changing either the Vcard or Monitor first. ( no cash to do both togehter) which one do you think is causing the problem?

check your resolution, the max resolution for the game, and the max for your monitor

otherwise download the latest video drivers

its most likely a software problem and not a hardware problem, so try everything before you pull anything out

its the nvidia card... same thing happened to me on a few of my games. Im not positive about this, but i believe the 5.5 drivers were the best for your card, so try rolling the vc drivers back. If that doesnt work, kick ubisoft

damm.. thats not very good. i had a suspicion is wasnt the monitor either...

ah well.. i was planning to get a 9800 pro sometime later but i think this might just accelerate things.
