main quest oblivion help

i just did the quest where i had to follow baurus through the sewers to get the 4th book from the daedric clan.. during the fight baurus died. should i load the game and try to keep him alive or does it not matter?

I dont know if its fine, i kept him alive. But i dont think it matters. Make a new save, and just follow on with the quest, if you cant then just load it up again and keep him alive.

It doesn't matter if he lives or dies. There might be something in it for you if he lives, but you might get that later on in the game anyway if he does die... either way... his life is useless...

Generally if someone dies in a quest it means they are non-important, but... just take for example getting Cheydinhal to send aid to Bruma.

You meet the Count's son in the Oblivion gate and iof you keep him alive you get 1 of the 2 Indarys weapons.
