Lag will definitely appear if you have downloads running in the background.

happens to me sometimes as well even with my sufficient speeds.

Test results from my Comcast = 40.88 download , and 2.38 upload with a 47 ping on Speedtest.net. SO, not all that great= explains the intermittent lag on BF2. Going to "ping test" website from the speed test website I got a 29ms ping. Showing the difference in the ping speed from different IP addresses. Could not figure out hour to paste /copy the data.

No I don't download anything whenever I'm playing online.

Every so often my internet will start lagging in the evenings. I just call up Comcast and have them do a line check. The technician usually makes a few adjustments and then I'm good for another 6 months to a year
