Ok I have a VisionTek ATI Radeon 9550 128MB AGP 8x, I am getting a whole new comp. come Christmas. Anyways, when I play CS:S, I get about 30 FPS on Medium at 800x600, and about 45 FPS on low at 800x600. I don't necessarily need the eye candy, but is there anything I can do even with my settings on low to get my fps to at least 50>?

Ah, well it could be my processor...

Intel P4 1.8 Ghz 400Mhz FSB
768 PC2700 RAM
300W PSU

It's proally my processor, but that is why I am getting that new build for christmas :)

uh he's talking about SOURCE

buuuut...who knows, maybe a mx440 can do 100+ with all low

my friend's integrated does like 5-10 on 640 x 480 all low

I was talking about source as well

MX440 owns the first HL1, like 100% maxed out

sorry DJ-Chris, but there is no way in a blue hell that you can get more than 100 fps in Source with a 440.

As for Counter-Strike, try downloading a specially made FPS config from www.gotfrag.com this can help alot and improve gameplay by removing eye candy and change network settings, allowing your bullets to register better and get an overall better experience.

Have you tried it?

On low, the Source engine run's pretty well on older cards, combined with DX7 mode

well I did mat_dxlevel 70 and such, I seem to get about 65. I really think my processor is holding me back which is why I can't wait to get my 3000+ :)
