I just downloaded this great mod for Half Life 2, called Substance. It is a fusion of Half Life 2 and Metal Gear Solid. What you get are different personas for Gordan - which you can switch between depending on the situation. In addition there are lots of new weapons, and another game mode called Gordan's Tales. The mod also adds bullet time, the ability to gib enemies, and if you get a headshot, you get a small armor/health bonus. The enemies are also much tougher to kill.
The personas are:
Gordan Freeman -
Standard Gordan, but with a modified loadout, and a new flashlight that lets you burn enemies. His secondary special ability is an HEV shield.
Liquid Snake -
A brutal close combat specialist. He gets a full minute of bullet time, and lots of heavy weapons. His special abilities are Killing Spree and HEV fists - a souped up hand to hand mode.
Solid Snake -
A stealthly soldier, Solid Snake is incredibly fast, but has relatively weak armor. He gets a combat knife, which is better than the crowbar, plus he can double jump, glide, do a leaping attack, and has a silenced pistol. His special abilities are stealthliness - cant be seen, and this psychic attack which will kill the enemy immediatly in front of you.
Big Boss -
A sniper. Hes got all sorts of long range weapons, including a scoped deagle. Hes also got this flare gun that burns enemies alive. his abilities are nightvision, and this shield mode.
Gray Fox -
A ninja. He gets a katana that instantly gibs all enemies, plus his pistol and shotgun are instant gibbers too. His special abilities are more or less the same as Solid Snake's. The downside to Gray Fox is that you will constantly lose health when playing as him - say one point of armor or health every 5 seconds. Only use him for close quarters combat.
Its a great mod, and I highly recommend it to anybody who wants to play through HL2 with a few twists. I think its a lot of fun.
