Half life 2 install problem, lost the cd but have the cd key

ok i just bought the Half life 2 game of the year edition, everything was good untill i lost the disc. I still have the cd key that came with the game. is there anyother way to install half life 2 on my computer with just the cd key, could i possibly download half life 2 and then enter the key. please need help.

You can download HL2 from Steam, but I'm not sure if it'll let you use the key before it makes you pay. If I were you, I'd contact Valve's Steam support (either forum, email, or phone). Their service is great, so I'm sure they can help you out.

Just install Steam from www.steampowered.com and use the same account you used before and all the games you had before will download, including HL2.

it still didn't work, can't i download half life 2 and when i install it i can then enter my key in

You install steam. Get steam from steampowered.com and login to steam and it will download the games.

If you lost the disc before you ever installed it, then you're screwed.
