Here, I just loaded up HL2 and played to the first elevator; I entered it first; now I am stuck as well.

when i try it i do load a save game file thats before the elevator area

Maybe you have to use the button in that elevator?

Just start a new game from chapter 5 (I think thats the black mesa east one) and that should put you right outside of the complex.

Oh, and it worked for me every time, regardless of which order we went in.

this is what worked for me. save the game before she is getting in the elevator with F6 save and then load with F9, try doing that even while she is standing still.
Or you could disable the A.I and then enable it again.
