Half Life 2 8800GT Anti Aliasing Problems

I am playing HL2 on my 8800GT and it looks really bad, because I cant put any AA on. I tried to force it in the drivers, didnt do anything. The ingame setting dosent change the jaggies at all. I even re-installed the drivers, and still it doesn't work. Im running forceware 169.21

Any ideas?

Actualy, I just forced it in the global settings, and it looks okay now ^^

I prefer having it under 'Let the application decide', I don't like forced AA because sometimes I forget it's turned on and wonder why Crysis runs 10x slower than it usually does

Is the slider on quality? There should be no jaggies even witn no aa at 1680x1050 if the slider is set to quality.

Edit: i just realized you have a 17" screen. Get you a bigger screen, your video card will eat 1680x1050 alive.

Setting it to Quality puts AA on.

With my 8800GTS 320MB, I can turn AA on from the ingame option when I play HL2 episode 2 with no problem

Are you sure? It doesnt for me, i use the advanced 3d settings, and have aa under application controlled.

Now, I can set it to the individual settings for the game, so its not global anymore, its still annoying that it wont work in the ingame settings, though...
