GPU temperature

Hi,
I am not sure if PC Gaming is the right place to put this in, anyways.
Since I started playing Far Cry 3 I started to care about my EVGA GTX 580 SC temperature. Without Afterburner it's about 87°C.
When I boost the fan (cca 2,5k RPM) it's ok and keeps under 80°C.
So the question - is it ok to force the boost for long time gaming?
And is there any more comfortable way to deal with the heat, apart from running Afterburner with every gaming session and force one value for fan speed (currently 67%).

Thank you for your replies,

nothing wrong with boosting the fan speed.

nothing you can do besides running afterburner every game session unless you edit the video card's BIOS.

however you can set afterburner to startup with windows and use a custom fan profile.

Perfectly fine running your fan 100% as long as you want, or as long as you can deal with the noise.

To elaborate on the profiles, you can set your fan to ramp up at whatever temp you want it to. So basically, if you set the fan to go 100% at 70C it'll do just that.
