Good Co-Op multiplayer game?

I've been yearning for the good old days of doom where my roomates and I can team up against hordes of enemies. Are there any such games out there nowadays?

What I most commonly see are human team vs human team multiplayer actions. Sometimes it's just really more satisfying to work with your friend toward a common goal of killing any computer organism in sight and working through the levels. So how about a game where it's not human vs human, but just "a buncha human" vs "a whole crapload of computer mobs?"

I remember doom where there were 6 rooms, each room contained 100*specified monster. There were a lot of senseless killing/dying when you opened the door

Serious Sam has a 4 player co-op mode where you and 3 friends can team up and wade through hoards of enemies.

Sven Co-op is a mod for Half Life which it basicly a bunch of custom maps that you play with halflife models and guns on the internet. that is pretty fun.
