Is the AMD 64 a good buy and worth the insane amount of money? What does it do that a XP processor cant? And what is the difference between a Barton processor and a normal Athlon XP? I have a Barton 2500+ and its ok for games.

Well I upgraded from Athlon 2200+ to Athlon 64 3000+.. and I think its awesome in every way..

AMD Athlon 64 has a 1600MHz FSB vs. the Athlon XP 3200 only having a 400MHz FSB. Also, Athlon 64 has 1MB L2 cache vs. the XP only having 512KB L2 cache. Also, with AMD64, you'll be ready for the 64-bit future of computing.
