I have 3 games that will not work on my PC. They will work on other PC's just not on mine. Dell can't find the problem. I have a 128MB PCI express card X300.
I can install these games, but then when I go to play them, the driver just runs and runs.
Dell Dimension 8400 3.2 Ghz
Thanks

What are the names of the three games?
How much RAM do you have?
What is your operating system?

Games won't work

The 3 games that won't work are: Hoyle Casino, GTA Vice City and NBA Live 2004.
I have 1 GB of RAM. The system I have is a Pentium 4 Windows XP Professional.
I just bought this system in November and have already had to have Dell replace the CD/DVD drive.
Thanks

Re: games not working

Yes, we have sp2. Kinda computer illiterate, how do you check to see if you got permission to execute? thanks again

Go to Start->Settings->Control Panel and click on Windows-Firewall. There's a tab called "Exceptions" which lists programs you want to let through the firewall. You'll see a bunch of programs Windows has detected trying to function (even if you don't have an internet connection, these will still be picked up). Make sure any programs you WANT to use are listed and checked. Notice the "Add Programs" button, too.

I'm not saying this will solve the problem, but I have noticed that it does often solve things, since the SP2 firewall is not restricted to internet only. It does have domain over applications running on the desktop, too, as well as those connecting to the net.
