Freind having major ping problems on all online games

My friend..who's a member on here (GhostRecruit, but hes only posted like once ) is having major ping and lag problems on online games, he has a wired broadband connection which is 2mb/s, same as mine but im wireless and my ping on UK servers never gets above 35 where as his can sometimes be in the 1000s. He only has open: the game, xfire, skype and mouse and keyboard apps.

Are there any quick ways of solving this?

try closing xfire, skype etc to see if it solves the problem, Whats his ISP? Sky broadband?

also it depends were you like my gf plays TF2 with me and she lives in a small town so her ping is always terrible as shes far away from the exchange. Shes on sky broadband on 2mb and gets about 512Kbps no were near 2mb
