Fallout 3 always Crashing

Has anyone else had this problem? The game crashes randomly for random reasons. Sometimes it will crash as soon as you load the game, or when the radio station switches songs, or when you enter/exit a building. I have tried a bunch of different things. Everything on my pc is up to date. I'm about to give up on this game entirely.

Did you apply the most recent patch?

Funny cuz I'm still on the release version of this game...and have yet to experience any problems *knocks on wood*

ive had a few crashes but no sereous problems
i noticed its prone to this when i have vista side bar open.

I got the patch installed and it works fine now.
