Evil Black Screen During Gameplay

Ok..Ive had this problem before and Ive forgotten how to get rid of it. I start off trying to play Battlefield 2/C&C: Generals (Which worked a few days ago) and as the game starts up I can hear everything thats happening but I can play (if I move the cursor it shows up and all I end up with is a Cursor and a black screen) I figured out how to fix this before but forgot.
I have the latest DirectX/Graphics/audio
Im running it on:
comp: Compaq
Operating Sys: Microsoft Windows Xp Home
CPU: AMD Athlon 64, 2400 MHz (12x200) 3400+
Sys Memory: 1024 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)
Vid. Card: Radeon X850 XT AGP 256mb
Moniter: ViewSonic VA172b
Audio: SiS 7012 Audio Devide

ok found out that when i minimize the game screen in Lineage 2/ AvP:2 it works but it will only play in minimized and when i try maximising it it goes black again. Also i have no idea how to minimise either BF2 or C&C:Generals so I have no idea how to help that game or fix it.
