DiRT with 360 Controller

I just bought DiRT and want to use the 360 controller. I cannot get it to show up in the game. I bought it through Steam if that makes a difference. The computer recognizes it and installed drivers. It is plugged in with a charge and play adapter. People have said they used it in this game so why can't I?

New Issue...

Crashes every time I load a race. straight to desktop. It is really frustrating.

As I found out when I tried using a 360 controller, the charge+play cable does not work as a data cable. All it does is charge via the USB slot (even though it install drivers for some reason).

Install all latest updates for the game, and for your GPU.

Once you get the receiver make sure you have the controller on before turning the game on. Dirt and some other games won't see the controller if activated after the game is.

Fixed it. DiRT doesn't support the 8 cores of an i7. Had to edit system files. works good but lags a little? any ideas to make it run smoothly. specs in sig.. winows764bit and 1440x900 res at 60hrtz
