Did Gearbox ever fix Borderlands?

I just started replaying Borderlands and it is working OK for me. What's broke?

It was really hard to connect to anyone. The host had to have like a million ports open and have like a static ip or something. I've tried setting a static a few times, but I just fail. My net stops working and I have to revert. I'm at school now, so I can't do it anyway.

I just checked, and you do not need to forward ports to connect to someones game. I believe this to be fixed for quite sometime now as I look back through the patch notes.

Was talking with a guy at one of the nerd shops today and he was commenting that he purchased the STEAM version at it was less tricky to connect. I never knew about any problems in the first place, but then again, I have only played this in single player mode.

Really? I heard it was much less fun singleplayer. I may have to get this up and running again if it has been fixed though.

It most definitley has been fixed as I don't have a static IP or forwarded ports anymore and Luke was able to connect to my games.
