I need some help from you pc wizards. My old comp's driver got corrupted (long story). Anyway, my family is stuck with this thing just for a little bit, it was in the basement:

Microsoft Windows XP
Home edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 3
Computer:
Intel(R)
Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80 GHZ
2.79GHZ, 512 MB of RAM

No graphics card LOL
Is there any possible way to play minecraft, I host a server and did all this port forwarding to stuff, now my old comp is dead. Yes I still have all of the world files....

Recommended:
OS: Windows XP/Vista/7
OpenGL: 2.0
Processor: 2.5 MHz (Single Core)
RAM: 2 GB(XP), 3 GB(Vista/7)
Hard Drive: 256 MB Free
Video: 128MB RAM

Other than being short on RAM you should have no problem playing it. Minecraft is no GPU killing powerhouse. ;) The minimum recommended RAM is 1GB with XP.

Post up the make/model or the mobo and we will see what we can find to get you up to the basics.

To be honest, with relation to how the game looks graphically, it runs pretty aweful. But thats to be expected by a beta game made by 6 guys.
And yeh minecraft can eat ram.

Running just windows 7 and minecraft uses 2258mb ram, javaw.exe uses 1029mb of that.

I can run lower setting for not though, plus much shorter render distance....

Anyway, this is the message I get when I start the game.

" Bad video card drivers!
-----------------------

Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode.
This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

That is helpful, unfortunately yet unsurprisingly it seems your onboard gpu does not support OpenGL. You are out of luck i think, you need a cheap discrete graphics card. We would be more than happy to help you over in the hardware section of this forum.

Thanks for the help, I knew I would have to get a new card, might have an old one ill have to see.... I can deal with it myself.

Don't take my word as the absolute truth. There may be a way around it that another member on here may know of, but from what i can derive from that error code you posted me is what i said, a modern discrete gpu will be needed. But lets see what other people say before you rush off and spend money :)

O I am not going to rush off and spend money, I have my other vid card in my other comp, its for lower grade computers I think I can switch it.
