Can modem be a source of lag?

So I am having frequent rubber-band lag in BF4 and reconnecting to server errors in Titanfall. I know both of these games have known network trouble, but I am also wondering if my modem could be an issue as I seem to be experiencing more problems than other players. The modem is a 2-in-1 modem/wireless router that I am leasing from timewarner cable. I used to connect wirelessly, but I switched to a 50-ft ethernet coord, and it didn't seem to help much if at all.

It could be a bad splitter or bad cable too. I've had the same pile of crap all in one you have (yea I have TWC) and had to switch to a Surfboard because they are just terrible. If it makes you feel any better I have rubber band issues in BF4 right now too, but I don't have Titanfall so can't comment there.
