C&C Generals video playing problem

I just recently installed C&C Generals but whenever I watch the intro video or any videos before campaign missions, the video stalls and skips and the audio cuts off and on. When I play the game i run on High settings and the game runs perfectly so I know its not a problem with stress on the card or anything like that. Has anyone experienced something like this and know the solution i would appreciate it.

My system is:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.0GHz
ASRock 939Dual-SATA Mobo'
ATI Radeon 9800XT 256MB
WD 200GB SATA HDD
Windows XP Media Center Edition

Sometimes this can be an issue with the sound card drivers, try updating them to the latest version, may as well do your video too if you haven't already. Not sure if this will help but worth a try.

It could also be a codec problem. Try the drivers like jorsoft said and then if you don't have any luck DL the k-lite codec pack.
