I'm probably not the only one who loved the gameplay and storyline of the original Half Life, and in a 3rd party mod group has now decided to rebuild this game as much as possible using the Source Engine to both eliminate the different feel between HL1 and HL2 gameplay, and to get people who never played the original HL into it.

Before you say that this has already been covered by HL:S, I will tell you that this Black Mesa: Source is being entirely rebuilt using the Source Engine. HL:S was simply the original game transfered over to Source quality graphics, and the physics engine and other bugs were never fixed, therefore it became a rather crude game with eye candy.

Black Mesa: Source will utilize all of the horsepower behind the Source Engine (and possibly even HDR) to entirely recreate the original HL. It's basically being built from the ground up.

I like where this is headed, the Black Mesa compound had so many details to it that the Quake Engine simply couldn't provide, and this mod will bring out all those missing characteristics as well as the original storyline. Whether you have or haven't played the original game, I suggest you get this game when it is released.

Here's a couple screenshots.
