Bioshock problem

Every time i try to run bioshock on my laptop (dell xps 2ghz dual core cpu, 4gb ram, geforce 8600gt 512mb) i see the bioshock logo thing loadin the middle of the screen, then the screen goes black and says bioshock isnt responding. any help? P.S. its vista 32bit. thanks always tech forums.

Patched up completely? Tried reinstalling the game? Tried running in compatibility mode for XP?

yes I have re installed, completely updated on steam. works on xp on my desktop

quick question, do u know how to use cheats? u hav eto do it in the defuser.ini text file. I cant find this file, only defuser. any help?

Bioshock is a pain. I remember wasting about 1.5 hours or so trying to get that game to work.

Latest Video card drivers and Direct X updates worked with a shut down and restart worked.

The game was a blast but I do remember it crashing constantly. To make it even more annoying, I would have to reset all the settings (graphics, audio, etc) every time it crashed. If the game hadn't been so amazing I would most certainly have given up on it.

Not sure, I just used a trainer a few times.
