Bioshock hangs at a black screen

I've had it for awhile, I just never played it. I think I had it installed and working on vista, but I don't remember for sure. Anyway, on 7, it hangs on a black screen whenever I try to launch it. I've patched it, but it still does this. I've looked around a little. The only thing I found was that it might have something to do with an incompatibility with my sound hardware or something like that. I've got the latest drivers on my card. It's an creative sound blaster xtreme gamer. Ideas?

Restart PC
try playing again.

I remember having issues with that game when I first got it too.
