BF2 VOIP issues... Headset turns my speakers off?!?

I'm using the USB headset that came with the PS2 games SOCOM for BF2 Voip setup... The only thing is that when I use it it turns off my regular 5:1 speakers! Is that how it's supposed to work? I was hoping for more of the SOCOM type features where vioce comes through the headset but regular sounds go through the speakers. Help!

That's the only way it will work with a headset...if you want speakers to work while talking you need a mic.

Indeed it is design to work that way. You can get the VOIP through your headset and the game sounds through your surround.

It would be cool but it just doesn't work that way. :/

I just picked up a little labtec mic that sits on your desktop and has fine dound quality for 10 bucks. That will do what you want.

I was wondering about that... So a mic only option would give me the best of both possible worlds? I think I actually have an old mic or 2 laying around the house. Thanks!
