BF@ problem for Friend.

My friend wants to play the Battlefield 2 Demo, but he says that everytime he starts it, a blank, black screen comes up, and then the game shuts down.

Any thoughts? This has happened to him on two different computers.

Computer sounds out-dated, or a DX problem. What are his specs?

Exactly the same as my new comp specs (We got the same types of parts without knowing it 0.0).

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Unknown Core)
Some 1 GB RAM
160 GB HDD
NVidia GeForce 6600GT.

Thats his new one, though. He just built it yesterday.

His old one WAS outdated. Could it be something with some drivers?

could be a problem with the drivers, download the latest nvidia drivers: 77.72 from thier website.

Id also think about updating the motherboard chipset drivers and if its built in sound those drivers too.

and once the game loads put all the options on the lowest setting to make sure it`ll run then slowly put them up to medium etc until you get to a level which wont affect performance.

With those specs you should easily run the game on medium settings.

Actually the 6600GT can run BF2 on high settings with dynamic lighting on medium.

that happened to me and a lot of people....it went away when I formatted and went to AMD64

Pretty sure a format would fix it, although I don't know why but the BF2 is buggy as all hell and that shutting off is a common problem

Isn't that 1.03 patch supposed to be released soon w/ tons of optimizations and hella loads of bug fixes?

its ment to be released late august, and hopefully fixes all the problems people are having, ment to have 140 fixes!

I just checked it out the patch will be helpful and as tibbinator said, its time to go search..........
