and no, there's no plans as of yet to release for PC

there is nothing I can find on "BF3" alone, Bad Company is the third installment (excluding 2142/Vietnam, which are really just sort of stand-alone expansions - 2142 uses BF2's engine and Vietnam used Vietnam used 1942's engine, this is an entirely new engine, so it's safe to considered it BF3)

Not really. A new engine doesn't signal Battlefield 3. Battlefield 3 will be Battlefield 3. Many companies decide to use something other than numbers before continuing with numbers (such as GTA III to Vice City to San Andreas to GTA IV). If it is supposed to be built on the Frostbite engine as someone mentioned, then BF:BC can be a profitable tech demo for what's yet to come as well as finally giving console players a decent Battlefield game.
